Microsoft today released Windows 10 SDK Preview Build 17095 to developers. This SDK can be used with Windows 10 Insider Build 17093 or later. And this release includes bug fixes and under development changes to the API surface area. The SDK is supported by Visual Studio 2017  and can work side-by-side with older SDKs.As you might have noticed in the recent SDK preview releases, this release also includes the C++/WinRT headers and cppwinrt compiler (cppwinrt.exe). This compiler comes in handy if you need to consume a third-party WinRT component or if you need to author your own WinRT components with C++/WinRT.The updated Preview SDK can be downloaded here. If Mixed Reality is to get a foothold in the construction industry hardhat compatibility is a legal requirement. We have already posted about Meemim’s hardhat kit, which is already on sale but now giant engineering firm Trimble have announced their own version that should hit the market soon.Shown off at the World of Concrete exhibition, their kit integrates the HoloLens with a hardhat, making 3D virtual reality accessible to workers in the field, and bringing CAD drawings to life in the real world via the Trimble Connect software, which can stream designs from the cloud.The Trimble Connect software lets users select different layers of information from multiple subcontractors such as structural, mechanical and electrical workers, overlayed on the real environment.This lets workers check work against the designs, find unseen wiring and plumbing, find layout points on the ground, record and preserve data and more.The solution was developed in collaboration with Microsoft, features a suspension system and quick release clips and is ANSI approved. Microsoft has been pushing for White Spaces Inteet for more than a decade, with varying amounts of success around the world. Microsoft’s White Space technology offers wide area long distance wireless networking over the old television bands, offering higher throughput, low power usage and greater penetration into buildings. Globally, the white space technology has been successfully deployed in the US and Singapore and is being tested in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and the Philippines. Now in their latest move, they have registered a new trademark for a service related to the technology named Airband. The trademark pertains to two uses.  One, for “Computer hardware, software and software applications to provide inteet connectivity services to white space telecommunications channels, networks and databases” and the other for “Providing business information and consulting in the field of white space telecommunications and inteet connectivity; promoting public interest and awareness of white space telecommunications and inteet connectivity.” The trademark dates from the 16th January 2018, so is still quite fresh. This SDK can be used with Windows 10 Insider Build 17074 or later.  At this stage, it, unfortunately, comes without a changelog, but likely includes support for C++/WinRT compilers in the Windows SDK as its headline feature.
