Former astronaut Buzz Aldrin yesterday launched the “Destination: Mars” exhibit at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. It is an interactive exhibit using the Microsoft HoloLens which will allow guests to “visit” several sites on Mars, reconstructed using thousands of real imagery from NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover, which has been exploring the Red Planet since August 2012. Buzz Aldrin, an Apollo 11 astronaut who walked on the moon in 1969, will serve as “holographic tour guide” on the jouey. Microsoft today announced the preview of Hold Your Own Key, an information protection feature designed to support organizations that need to comply with complex regulation and compliance policies. Whereas Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) hosts the RMS key in Azure Key Vault HSMs, Hold Your Own Key has you operating your own AD, your own RMS server, and your own HSMs for key retention. You deploy Azure Information Protection in your organization as per usual guidance. In effect, the Azure Information Protection services (Azure RMS, Admin Information protection configuration in Azure) are always cloud hosted but they enable you to operate in a cloud-only, hybrid, or on-premises only (via the RMS connector) deployment. Azure RMS is where you define your Azure RMS protection policies for sensitive data. AD RMS is where you define your AD RMS protection policies, for ‘top-secret’ data. Apart from the compact size, the other key improvement included in Xbox One S is its 4K and HDR video support. Since its announcement few months back, gamers were eager to know about the new console’s inteals to know how Microsoft added support for 4K and HDR content. Albert Penello, senior director of product marketing and planning spoke with Eurogamer to reveal all about the Xbox One S inteals. Here are the highlights from the interview, Regarding the SoC: The SoC in the Xbox One S is designed in the 16nm Fin FET process, which results in a die that is 240mm2; 33 per cent smaller and consumes less power than the 28nm SoC in the original Xbox One. [Original Xbox One was using 28nm processor] About how they added 4K UHD video support: There are several components required to support the 4K UHD video playback that result in a combination of changes in the new console. First, we added a 4K HEVC decoder to the SoC to render the compressed video streams efficiently in hardware. Next, we updated the video output to HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.  The interface revisions are all integrated into the SoC and enable outputting video at the higher bandwidths required for 4K UHD and HDR formats, as well as the copy protection tech required for protected content. And of course, we updated the optical drive to support the BD-UHD disc format. On scaling algorithm used to take 1080p to 4K: We use the same hardware block and algorithms to scale directly from the game’s render resolution to 4K as we do with the current Xbox One when scaling to the TV’s input resolution. They have now combined Secure Islands’ industry-leading data classification and labeling technology with Azure RMS, and have released a public preview of Azure Information Protection to download and try out Microsoft Azure Information Protection deliver these key capabilities: Classify, label and protect data at the time of creation or modification. Use policies to classify and label data in intuitive ways based on the source, context and content of the data. Classification can be fully automatic, user-driven or based on a recommendation. Once data is classified and labeled, protection can be applied automatically on that basis. Persistent protection that travels with your data. Classification and protection information travels with the data. This ensures that data is protected at all times, regardless of where it is stored, with whom it is shared, or if the device is running iOS, Android or Windows. Enable safe sharing with customers and partners. Share data safely with users within your organization as well as with exteal customers and partners. Document owners can define who can access data and what they can do with it; for example, recipients can view and edit files, but they cannot print or forward. Windows Information Protection (WIP) formerly known as as enterprise data protection (EDP) will ship in the upcoming Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Last week, Microsoft detailed how Windows Information Protection will help organizations protect their sensitive data across devices. Unlike the third party solutions, WIP is easy to deploy and doesn’t get in the way of the user experience. IT Admin should just tu on a few policies in their MDM (e.g.: Microsoft Intune) or System Center Configuration Manager and WIP will work. The main advantage of WIP is that it doesn’t require users to use special folders, change modes, use alteate apps, move into secure zones or partitions, etc. Because WIP is integrated into the platform, most of your existing apps (including your LOB’s) will work with WIP without modification, app wrapping etc. This is a big differentiator given that, in most cases, third party solutions frequently force users to use completely different apps on mobile vs. desktop devices. When it comes to leak protection, WIP helps ensure that only authorized users and apps have access to business data. This even works on devices with multiple user profiles. In addition, WIP helps content from business documents from leaking through copy and paste operations. WIP allows users to freely copy content between business apps and documents, but it won’t allow the data to leak into the personal or public domain unless IT chooses to allow it with a policy. We still do not know if the keyboarded Keyever K1 is a real device or a hoax, but thanks to a new twitter account we now have some more information about the interesting handset. The @keyever twitter account, which has not been verified, has reposted the earlier renders, now however in English. The slides finally gives the handset an English-language name, the Keyever K1, and also confirms a Snapdragon 600 series processor, opening up the possibility of Continuum for Phones support. It also confirms the touch screen, Glance screen and dual-SIM features, and the 3000 mAh battery for “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” use times. The 3.5 inch screen should help with this, and the team now also confirms it is an AMOLED type with qHD resolution. Without any track record it is not clear if the device is real or will ever hit the market. Earlier rumours suggest the handset is set to arrive some time in Q3 2016 and will cost around CNY 1000 ($155). Microsoft HoloLens health and safety information has leaked online. Read the highlights from the leaked document below. HoloLens is not intended for children below 13. HoloLens can be wo over most glasses and used with contact lenses. Just like other VR devices, using HoloLens may cause you discomfort. It may cause temporary nausea, motion sickness, etc,. To make it more comfortable, Microsoft is recommending users to keep their first few HoloLens sessions short and take breaks. These health and safety information are not really surprising. The most popular VR device GearVR has almost the same health and safety info. Even GearVR restricts children below 13 to use their device and asks you to take at least a 10 to 15 minute break every 30 minutes if you feel discomfort.
