HP’s Omen 15 and Omen 17 gaming laptops get refreshed with tweaked design

HP’s Omen line of gaming products got a bunch of new upgrades today. The company’s backpack PC got a sweet new dock, the flagship gaming PC from the company also got some much-needed changes. In addition to all of these improvements, HP is also refreshing its Omen gaming laptops, too. The new Omen laptops come with a tweaked design that makes these devices look like actual gaming hardware. The last generation of Omen gaming laptops looked a lot like the regular laptop designs, so HP is improving the design of the laptops with the new Omen 15 and Omen 17. Most of the other components of the Omen 15 and Omen 17 are still the same, but you are getting the usual spec bumps with the new Omen 15 and Omen 17 as per usual. First, let’s talk

First, let’s talk about the Omen 15: it now has the Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake (7th-gen) processors, a 15.6-inch HD display, up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, up to 512GB of PCIe SSD for internal storage, and 1TB HDD. As for the GPU, HP is letting users choose between the AMD Radeon RX550 with 2GB RAM and the Nvidia GeForce GTX1050 Ti with 4GB RAM. The company is also going to sell a 4K variant of the Omen 15.

That’s also the same case for Omen 17, where you’re getting 17-inch 4K UHD G-Sync/FreeSync display that packs a refresh rate of 60Hz but the regular HD with G-Sync operates at a refresh rate of 120Hz. The device comes with the exact same processor as the Omen 15 — that’s the Intel Core i7-7700HQ. For the GPU, buyers can choose between the Radeon RX 580 from AMD with 8GB RAM or the GeForce GTX 1080 from Nvidia with 8GB RAM. Unlike the smaller Omen 15, you can get up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM with the Omen 17, up to 256GB SSD and 2TB HDD.

The Omen 15 starts at $999, while the Omen 17 prices start at $1,099. Both of them go on store shelves later this month.
