Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Screamride become backward compatible

Both Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and ScreamRide are now available on Xbox One through the Backward Compatibility program. For those who are somehow unfamiliar with Backward Compatibility, it lets gamers with an Xbox One play their old Xbox 360 titles. Using it with physical copies is as easy as inserting the disc in your console, and digital copies will simply appear in the Ready To Install section in My Games & Apps.

The focus this week is undeniably on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a slick action title developed by Platinum Games. Starring Raiden (the protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty), it ditches the series’ signature stealth for some of the most brutal and stylish action you’ll ever see in a video game.

It is interesting that this is the first Metal Gear title to come to Backward Compatibility, but it hopefully means that we’ll see even more Konami titles joining the lineup soon – the HD versions of MGS 2/3/Peace Walker immediately come to mind.

The fanfare surrounding ScreamRide joining the program is definitely going to be different in the sense that it won’t exist at all. Much like Call of Duty: Ghosts, versions of this game exist for both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 already. It will be nice for those who picked up the 360 version previously, but nobody will be buying the 360 version to play on the Xbox One.

You can view both titles in the Xbox 360 Marketplace by following the links below.
