Windows 10 Story Remix’s coolest feature won’t launch with the Fall Creators Update

When Microsoft introduced Windows 10’s new Story Remix experience at Build 2017, the company showed off a pretty cool Mixed Reality demo. The feature allowed users to insert 3D objects from its Remix 3D service into real life video, and it actually looked very cool. Unfortunately though, when the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update launches sometime in September/October of this year, the update won’t ship with this feature. Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will include the basic features, but the main headline feature will be lacking at launch.

Ashlie Little, Story Remix’s Project Marketing Manager, recently confirmed on Twitter that the feature won’t be available when it launches and it will instead be available in the “following months.”

It isn’t clear whether Microsoft plans on releasing the feature as a new update to the Microsoft Photos or if it’ll get added with the next Windows 10 update that’s set to arrive in 2018, however.

It’s important to note that 3D content on Story Remix isn’t the only feature that’s being cut from the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Microsoft dropped two other big features from the release, including the new Windows Timeline and Cloud Clipboard features.
