Back in May, Microsoft released Office desktop app for Windows 10 S, but it only available for the Surface Laptop. Last month, Microsoft made the Office desktop apps available to download by all Windows 10 S PCs and installations. Today, Microsoft started inviting Insiders to try out Office desktop apps through the Windows Store on regular Windows 10 devices. As per the invitation sent to Insiders, this is a invite-only preview which will allow Insiders to install Office 365 desktop apps on their PCs running Windows 10 Creators Update or later.

Microsoft is planning to release Office desktop apps in Windows Store before end of this year. Office in the Windows Store does have a few differences when compared to regular Office apps. You will only be able to install the 32-bit version of Office, you won’t be able to use COM add-ins and it includes OneNote for Windows 10 instead of OneNote 2016.
