Microsoft may now be using Windows Insiders to test Surface drivers and firmware

Microsoft keeps finding handy uses for Windows Insiders. The latest may be to test Surface firmware and drivers.

WindowsCentral reports that Microsoft has been pushing out new Surface Laptop UEFI drivers and firmware to Windows 10 Insiders, initially to those on the Fast Ring and then on the Release Preview Ring.

The update takes the UEFI drivers from 136.1668.769.0 to 136.1736.769.0,  Keyboard driver from generic 1.0.0 to 135.1713.0, System Aggregator from 1.0.0 to 135.1704.1.0 and Trackpad driver from 1.0.0 to 2.122.2683.0.

It also updates the Surface Integration Service Device, Surface Integration, and System software.

Microsoft has made no announcement and there is no changelog available, but the WC speculates that Microsoft is testing the drivers on Insiders before, if no problem crops up,  rolling them out to all Surface Laptop owners in the coming weeks.

We are not sure that this is what Insiders have signed up for, but this should make the ride all the more thrilling when you boot up your PC each morning.
