Minecraft Better Together beta ends, update rolling out now

The Minecraft Better Together beta, which unifies the block world on Windows 10, Xbox One and Android, has come to an end, and Microsoft has now started pushing out the final version to players on the various platforms.

The news was announced on twitter by Microsoft employee Aubrey Norris.

The Better Together Update is designed to unify the console, mobile and Windows 10 PC versions of the game under one single Minecraft edition, which will include infinite worlds, the community Marketplace and community servers. It will introduce cross-platform support, allowing console, Windows 10 PC and mobile Minecrafters to play together for the first time and due to the new Bedrock Engine platform bring new features such as stained glass, fireworks, customizable banners, armour stands, jukebox and music discs, recipe book, ravines and more.

On top of that, the update also brings support for selecting a keyboard and mouse as the primary input device rather than the Xbox controller on the console.

As part of the Better Together Update for Minecraft Microsoft also announced integration with Microsoft’s new 3D properties Paint3D and Remix3D.com.The integration will be available on the PC version of the Minecraft app and would let users easily export and share 3D creations to inspire others. Unfortunately, the integration appears one way at present, meaning players will not be able to share designs for use in the game using these platforms.

The update is free for those who purchased the game either digitally or on Xbox One.
