Windows defense in depth gets AI boost with Hexadite integration

Microsoft today announced that they are adding automated investigation and remediation capabilities to Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) later this year. Until now Windows Defender ATP was only capable of detecting and preventing security issues. Thanks to the acquisition of Hexadite, a leader in security automation, Microsoft has now integrated their AI technology into Windows Defender ATP.

Windows Defender ATP can now automatically investigate alerts, apply AI to determine whether a threat is real and to determine what action to take. This new feature will help organizations not only find breeches, but to fix them without human intervention in many cases.

“Our vision is to deliver a new generation of security capabilities that helps our customers protect, detect and respond to the constantly evolving and ever-changing cyberthreat landscape,” said Terry Myerson, executive vice president, Windows and Devices Group, Microsoft during the time of Hexadite’s acquistion. “Hexadite’s technology and talent will augment our existing capabilities and enable our ability to add new tools and services to Microsoft’s robust enterprise security offerings.”
