Microsoft yesterday revealed the upcoming updates to their Remote Desktop Services (RDS) solution. Microsoft RDS allows anyone access a remotely-hosted Windows desktop environment or application from almost any device. They already have Remote Desktop clients for Windows, Windows 10 S, iOS and Android. Now, they are adding support for HTML5 browser-delivered experience which will allow users to access their Windows apps from virtually any device that has a HTML5 browser.

In addition, they are improving the security of RDS-hosted environments. Azure AD can be now used for authentication which will support features like Conditional Access policies, Multifactor Authentication, Integrated authentication with other SaaS Apps using Azure AD, and the ability to get security signals from the Intelligent Security Graph. They are also isolating the infrastructure roles (Gateway, Web, connection broker and others) from the desktop and app deployment hosts to improve the security of virtualized environments.
