Forget millennials, Lenovo is going after Gen Xers with their retro ThinkPad 25

IBM introduced the first ever ThinkPad device back in 1992. It’s been almost 25 years since the first ThinkPad was launched, and the ThinkPad brand has continued to evolve over the years. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ThinkPad, Lenovo is coming up with an Anniversary Edition: the Lenovo ThinkPad 25. This obviously isn’t something for the millennials, and it’s more of a thing for the original ThinkPad fans.

And that’s’ exactly why the Lenovo ThinkPad 25 will sport a retro design, with the multi-coloured logo, as well as a blue enter key. Lenovo is packing all the latest specs into the new ThinkPad 25, and all the specs have been leaked by WinFuture. The device is apparently based on the ThinkPad T470, which means they share similar specs. It comes with a 14-inch Full HD display, the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU, the 7th-gen Intel Core i7 (7600U) clocked at 2.7GHz. The device sports TurboBoost, which can boost the clock speed up to 3.5GHz. For the RAM, you are getting 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB of internal SSD storage. More interestingly, the device will feature LTE support.

Lenovo is also including support for Windows Hello on the ThinkPad 25 — in fact, you’ll be able to unlock the device with your fingerprint scanner or unlock it using your face, too. And being a ThinkPad device, the ThinkPad 25 doesn’t compromise on the ports — there’s one USB Type-C port, three regular USB ports, Thunderbolt 3, one SD card reader, an ethernet port, and one HDMI port.

Lenovo is yet to officially unveil the ThinkPad 25, but it’ll probably be officially announced next month on the 25th anniversary of the original ThinkPad. Pricing and availability details are unknown at the moment.
