Update: EA has confirmed that all in-game purchases have been turned off. The company’s official statement can be read here. While the ability to purchase Crystals in the game is now offline, they “will become available at a later date” when EA has made the necessary changes.

Something is amiss in Star Wars Battlefront II right now. As of the time of writing, it appears that you can no longer purchase Crystals with real money, effectively removing microtransactions from the game. Many players, including the press, have noticed that the ability to spend money on Crystals has disappeared from the menu in-game.

While Crystals appear to have been pulled from most digital storefronts, you can still purchase them through the Microsoft Store.

The company faced harsh criticisms and powerful backlash for Battlefront II’s pay-to-win progression system. When it was discovered that unlocking just one Hero could take dozens of hours, fans were not quiet with their displeasure. EA’s defense on the matter even resulted in the most downvoted Reddit comment of all time.

EA has not commented on the matter as of yet. It is unclear if this was intentional or not.
