While the Xbox One X tends to be marketed towards more serious gamers and not the entire Xbox player base, this doesn’t mean its sales are hurting. During an annual shareholder meeting today, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella mentioned how the console saw an incredible response over the holiday and how the company plans to pursue the expanding video game industry.

“We’re mobilizing to pursue an expansive opportunity in the 100+ billion gaming market,” he said. “This means broadening our approach to how we think about gaming end-to-end. About starting with games and how they’re created and distributed, and how they’re played and viewed.”

Specifically referring to the Xbox One X, he said that it’s the “most technically advanced and most powerful console ever built” and it is seeing “incredible response from fans this Holiday season.”

The company also intends to continue connecting its gaming assets across console, PC, and mobile as it has done the past few years with UWP and other features like Xbox Play Anywhere. They will work to “grow and engage the over 53 million Xbox Live members more deeply and frequently.”

We don’t know any exact numbers surrounding the Xbox One X’s sales, but GameStop said that it nearly sold out of its initial allotment within the first 24 hours of the console’s release. Xbox executives even warned that certain regions could experiences shortages of the system this holiday.
