Apple launched three new iPhones this year and is rumoured to continue the same for the coming year. According to a new report, Apple is planning to launch three iPhones in 2018 with a bigger display, better design and battery. If Nikkei is to be believed, the Cupertino giant is planning to launch two OLED models and one LED model in 2018.
The OLED models will carry a 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch screen size, respectively and the LCD model is rumoured to ship with a 6.1-inch display and a metal body with multiple colours. Unfortunately, if Apple plans to go with metal casing, the company will have to drop the support for wireless charging which was introduced with Apple devices this year.
Moving to another report coming from reputed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple might be planning to introduce bigger and powerful battery with the new iPhones. The battery on Apple’s upcoming 5.-8-inch iPhone will sport a 2-cell battery design with a capacity in the range of 2,900 mAh and 3,000 mAH. In contrast, the battery on the current iPhone X has a capacity of 2,716 mAh. The other iPhones with 6.1 and 6.3-inch display will come with battery capacities as high as 3,400 mAh and 2,950 mAh, respectively.
Apple’s new in-house power management chip would be the most advanced in the industry and could have processing capabilities that allow it to better monitor and control power consumption among various components. That means iPhone users could expect devices capable of delivering better performance on lower power consumption.
It’s still early to predict what Apple might have in store for us in the coming year but we will soon find it out. For now, you can head to the comments section and let us know what do you think about the upcoming iPhones.
