Microsoft’s latest project enables healthcare providers to easily create health chatbots

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced several new health care related initiatives and solutions under the name of Healthcare NExT to help health industry partners and organizations to use intelligent technology to improve the lives of people around the world. Microsoft yesterday announced a new AI-powered project under Healthcare NExT initiative that will enable healthcare providers to easily create intelligent and compliant healthcare virtual assistants and chatbots.

These health bots will be powered by Microsoft cognitive services and authoritative medical content. As a result, users can interact with these bots by typing or talking in natural language and receive answers for their health-related questions. These bots can be deployed by hospitals, insurers, and others. For example, insurers can build bots that give their customers an easy way to look up the status of their insurance claim and ask questions about benefits and services. Hospitals can build bots that triage patient issues with a symptom checker, help patients find appropriate care, and look up nearby doctors.

We are incubating the health bot project as part of Healthcare NExT, a new initiative at Microsoft to dramatically transform healthcare by deeply integrating greenfield research and health technology product development, in partnership with the healthcare industry’s leading players. Through these collaborations, our goal is to enable a new wave of innovation and impact in healthcare using Microsoft’s deep AI expertise and global-scale cloud.
