New patent show Samsung working on a phone with wraparound display

A new patent showed up today which might give a hint at the future of mobile devices. Samsung’s new filing shows the working of a new device which is likely to have a wraparound display. The filing was submitted to US Patents Office back in September 2016 and shows 10 concept drawings showing a large main screen on the front that wraps around to the rear where more apps could potentially be displayed.

Samsung has openly admitted about working on curved and flexible display devices in the past. Earlier this year Samsung also revealed a new OLED screen prototype which can roll, stretch, and bend. Apple and LG are also in the race to deliver devices with working curved or bendable display.

While this patent is just another hope to see a curved or all display phone is the future, we do hope that companies work on the cost associated with making a bendable or curved display device. This is obviously a start but the real test is to make a working prototype that is both bendable and doesn’t force you to break your bank.
