Trekstor’s crowdfunded Windows phone predictably fails to take off

We reported last month that Trekstor’s Windows phone was being crowdfunded, or at least, an attempt was made at crowdfunding the device. The Windows phone was a low-end handset aimed at small businesses and Windows phones who wanted to replace their old windows devices.

It seems the market for that was just not very large. The campaign now is over, and the firm managed to cover just about 11% of its costs, marking an unsuccessful attempt at fundraising (via AllAboutWindowsphone).

This isn’t the first Windows phone to attempt a revival via crowdfunding. Trinity — the firm behind the Nuans Neo — did the same as well, with the same results.

As Microsoft has long since acknowledged, Windows 10 Mobile isn’t taking the world by storm, and any attempts at crowdfunding merely reveal the lack of interest that burdened the troubled operating system.
