Nvidia says a fond farewell to 32-bit Windows

Before the Chinese PUBG invasion, only about 5% of Steam gamers were running a 32-bit version of Windows, be it Windows 7, 8 or 10 (and today it’s less than 2%).   Nvidia has been paying attention to that stat, and has decided that it was no longer worth supporting this dwindling community.

According to a support page on their website the company said Release 390 of its GeForce WHQL driver would the last to support 32-bit Windows, with no new features, optimizations or enhancements coming to that version of the package. Nvidia will, however, continue to deliver critical bug fixes for another year.

It is not just 32-bit Windows 7, 8 and 10 which is affected, but also Linux and FreeBSD.

Given that gamers are usually obsessed with performance, this may be the final prompt for gamers to upgrade their hardware or OS to a better-supported version.
