The new Xbox Duke controller goes on sale at the end of March

Seamus Blackley, one of the men who designed the original Xbox, has announced that the Duke controller is coming back at the end of March for $69.99, close to the price of a standard Xbox One controller.

Back in September, Blackley announced that Microsoft had partnered with accessory manufacturer Hyperkin to bring back this misunderstood beast. No release date was revealed at the time, but now we know you can get your hands on one of the new Dukes in a few short months.

As described by Hyperkin, the new Duke “sports a faithful recreation of the original controller’s form-factor with some updated features: a logo display screen, left and right bumpers, and a 9 ft. detachable cable.” It will be compatible with the Xbox One family of devices, so you won’t need to worry if you have an older or newer Xbox One system.

Xbox’s original Duke controller drew the ire of fans and kids due to its bulky design that was difficult to hold for anyone with smaller hands. Thankfully, Microsoft started packaging Xbox consoles with the smaller and sleeker Xbox Controller S. Nearly two decades later some fans are nostalgic for the Duke despite its reputation.

Now that Original Xbox backward compatibility is a reality, the Duke should be the perfect controller to help you relive your childhood.
