Google is in the process of rolling out a new update to their Chrome browser, taking it to version 64.
The update brings along mitigation for the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities and also a number of useful new features.
Starting with the new features, the update will deliver an improved pop-up blocker, one that is able to detect links disguised as play buttons and site controls and also which prevents transparent overlays from being exploited to open new browser windows.
The update will also prevent malicious auto-redirects from 3rd party content embedded in pages, blocking 3rd party iframes unless a user directly interacts with it.
It also brings site-wide auto-mute as a permissions option if there is a particular site which is always aut0-playing annoying sounds.
As we reported earlier, HDR video support for Windows 10 PCs with the other requisite HDR hardware (monitor, graphics card) is also now available.
The browser update is rolling out now and should install automatically when you restart your browser.
