Spotify’s Windows 10 app now available in the Windows Store

When Microsoft launched Windows 10 S, the company announced that Spotify is bringing its Windows desktop app to the Windows Store for all Windows 10 PCs, including the new Windows 10 S devices. And that was a pretty big announcement from the event. Today, the Spotify app went live on the Windows Store and users can download it right now from the Windows Store for their Windows 10 PCs.

The Spotify app on the Windows Store is effectively the same as the classic desktop app, which means all the features that exist on the company’s traditional desktop is available on the Windows Store version. That’s made possible by Microsoft’s Desktop App Bridge which enables developers of classic Win32 apps to bring their desktop apps to the Windows Store and utilize the modern Windows 10 APIs, too. In the case of Spotify, the Windows Store app doesn’t seem to be utilizing any of the Windows 10 features such as live tiles as of yet. The company did optimize the app logo for the Start Menu, but that’s about it.
