Finish company Eve is working on a follow-up to their Eve T1 Windows tablet which we reviewed here.

The new Eve’s Pyramid Flipper is a Surface clone where the specs and design are guided by community feedback, for example their community insisted the device should come with a stylus.

The company is promising all day battery life and the performance of a laptop, and has so far settled on the specs below:

• Display: QHD with eye-melting colors and zero air gap lamination technology
• Wacom active pen
• RAM: 8GB
• CPU: Latest intel core M5
• LTE support, Fingerprint sensor
• Thunderbolt 3 and 2 USB type Cs + 2 USB type A
• Aluminium body carved from single piece of aluminum using CNC machine

Eve has not been clear on the delivery date, but those interested can join the eve community to help guide the project.

In the mean time to drum up interest the company is partnering with Fiish company Mozo (who will also be making accessories for the tablet) to give away 21 cases for the Lumia 950 and 650. Read more about that on their website here.

Polish Outsourcing provider’s IT solutions to feature in Microsoft’s City Next portfolio

Leading software development outsourcers Future Processing have partnered with technology giant Microsoft on City Next, a partner-led initiative that empowers cities to be more sustainable, prosperous, and economically competitive.

With more and more European cities starting to introduce smart technologies to benefit their citizens, Microsoft’s CityNext initiative, now supported by Future Processing, aims to empower municipal authorities in optimising the management of the city to become more efficient, safer, healthier, more educated, and more sustainable places to live and work.

CityNext enables cities to tap into the solutions included in Microsoft’s portfolios and iovate at their own pace, deploying real-time solutions. This may transform their infrastructure; engage citizens and businesses; accelerate their economic development and environmental sustainability.

To further develop this initiative, Microsoft has signed a strategic partnership with Future Processing, which will see its IT solutions for the healthcare sector, intelligent water supply systems and others find their place in Microsoft’s portfolio of Smart City solutions.

It is predicted that by 2050, the current 3.5 billion people already living in cities today will rise by a further 2.7 billion. As such, finding new methods of supporting authorities in city management, which can deliver both citizen-centric services and economic and social opportunities at scale, is becoming increasingly critical.

Wojciech ?yczy?ski, Microsoft’s Sales Director for the Public Sector in Polish branch, said: “Progressive development, including the Inteet of Things trend, transforms cities into communication mediums. Therefore, the data generated by citizens can be interpreted in order to look for ways of modeisation, savings and enhancements of the quality of life in cities. We believe Future Processing’s IT solutions can help us deliver these improvements as the needs of cities now and in the future continue to change”

Future Processing CEO, Jaros?aw Czaja, commented: “Technology changes the world we live in and lets us solve our everyday problems. Intelligent monitoring systems that react to dangers, or a system detecting waterworks failures on its own are just a few examples of solutions that years ago seemed impossible and now are being successfully implemented in cities. These solutions allow us to use the infrastructure more effectively as well as react faster to emergencies; thanks to technology we, citizens, can lead safer, more convenient and cheaper lives. As the increase in urbanisation results in new challenges, we hope that working with Microsoft will empower us to help cities address what’s next in shaping their future.”

Cities included in the CityNext programme are: Auckland (New Zealand), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Hainan Province in People’s Republic of China, Hamburg (Germany), Manchester (England), Moscow (Russia), Philadelphia (USA) and Zhengzhou (People’s Republic of China).

Griffin has just launched a new USB-type C cable for the princely sum of $39.99.

The cable is rather special however, sporting a magnetic coector similar to Apple’s famous magsafe coector, which prevents devices from crashing to the ground then you trip over the charging cord.

Being a standard the USB-C cable should work perfectly well in any device powered by the new coector, though Windows PCs powered by the new standard are pretty rare.

There are however a number of Windows 10 tablets which use USB-C, and if you always wanted a way to easily, quickly and safety charge them Griffin might just have the answer.

You can see the cable in their store here, when it comes in stock.

If you’re in the market for either an Android or Windows 10 tablet in the next 3 days, how about scoring a 10 inch tablet that runs both OSs for only $189.89. Over at GearBest, Chinese OEM Teclast is selling its DualOS Tbook 2 in 1 tablet PC, and this bad boy can be yours if you act by April 24th, the last day of the sale. What you’ll be getting for your dollar is a 10.1 inch 1920 X 1200 display, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of ROM capable of being expanded by TF card, an Intel Cherry Trail Z8300 64bit Quad Core processor ruing at 1.44 GHz, and of course your choice of Windows 10 or Android 5.1, on the same tablet. All of your standard coections and ports are present, sans a full size USB port (only micro USB made the cut), and the tablet even makes room for a mini HDMI port. All of this is powered by a 22800 mWh battery, expandable by an optional snap on keyboard accessory (not included).

The tablet is on available in a Champaign color, but the Aluminum Alloy body looks great with it. And before you get ready to click that purchase button. the installed OSs are the only ones covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Any modifications, including OS upgrades, will void that warranty, so make sure that you’re comfortable with the current versions of the OSs installed (though I’m sure any OS upgrades would render the OS inoperable.

You can purchase the tablet here.
