Microsoft mistakenly aounced the official release date for Windows 10 Aiversary Update just yesterday. Today, the company has officially aounced the release date for the Aiversary Update, stating that the update will be available on August 2 as a free upgrade to existing Windows 10 users. In a blog post, Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi stated:
We’d like to say a special thank you to each of you who have upgraded to Windows 10. With over 350 million devices now ruing Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of Windows and customer engagement is also incredible with more than 135 billion hours of use on Windows 10 since launch. We’re pleased that so many of you are being more productive and having more fun with Windows 10. Your feedback has been a key input into the design of the Aiversary Update.
As for Windows 10 Mobile, the company didn’t provide an exact date for the release of Aiversary Update on Mobile devices. In a statement to MSPU, a Microsoft spokesperson stated:
Windows 10 on PC and mobile will be the first to receive the Aiversary Update. Other devices will get it over time, and we will have more to share on this in the future. The Aiversary Update will start on August 2nd and roll out over time. Given the scale of delivering updates to more than 350 million devices around the world, our rollout will be measured and deliberate to ensure we deliver a great customer experience.
As you can see, Microsoft isn’t being very clear about when the update will be coming to Mobile devices just yet. However, Microsoft will hopefully provide a release date for Aiversary Update on Mobile devices in the near-future.
Windows 10 Aiversary Update features a bunch of new features and improvements, including Extensions for Edge, an improved Start Menu, Notification Syncing, improvements to the Settings app, lots of performance improvements, improvements to Cortana, and much more. With the update, Microsoft is also introducing an improved Windows Store, along with improvements for the Universal Windows Platform with new APIs such as Chaseable Live Tiles.
In addition to the release date of the Aiversary Update, Microsoft has also aounced that Windows 10 is now ruing on more than 350 million devices – for those wondering, Microsoft aounced that the OS was ruing on more than 300 million devices back in May.
