All OS upgrades come with new emoji today, and Microsoft’s Windows 10 Aiversary Update is no exception.
The update comes with over 52, 000 new emoji (this includes both modifiers and gender combinations) in the OS – although not all display in the keyboard.
In a blog post on Microsoft’s official Windows Blog, the firm detailed the process behind the design of the new emoji and the process of adopting the Unicode specification for Windows.
Commenting on the moe
Microsoft focused on diversity and expression in the new emoji keyboard for Windows 10, allowing for more racial and family representation – although we do note that Microsoft doesn’t display them in the keyboard by default.Emojipedia says “there’s more to come on this front” so there’s that.
That being said, emoji are often used in popualar culture and comunication, so Microsoft keeping up with comminccation standards can only be a good thing for consumers.
