Everything you need to know from Microsoft’s E3 2017 briefing

Today, Microsoft had their E3 2017 Xbox briefing. Members of the press, as well as gamers from around the world, attended the event at the Galen Center in Los Angeles. The evening was filled with numerous game reveals like Anthem, State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3. Project Scorpio also received new information. There were numerous surprises in there too despite all the leaks which took place in the morning. Here’s everything you need to know from their event. Microsoft has a lot of quality experiences coming out in 2017 and beyond.

Xbox One X

The event started with an amazing sequence showcasing how Project Scorpio is constructed. The trailer ended with the final design of the console. It’s definitely sleeker than the development kit. It’s the smallest Xbox ever. The console is launching on November 7 for $500. Games will look amazing on a 4K display and a 1080p display. Over 30 third-party games will be updated for Xbox One X includes Final Fantasy XV, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Resident Evil 7 and Rocket League.

Forza Motorsport 7

Microsoft showcased Forza Motorsport 7. Currently the franchise has 4.8 million active players across all platforms. The game runs at native 4K 60 FPS on Xbox One X and looks absolutely phenomenal. The title features over 700 vehicles and is coming out on October 3 for Xbox One and Windows 10.

Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus, the third game in the post-apocalyptic franchise, is coming to Microsoft’s platforms soon.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

Microsoft officially confirmed Assassin’s Creed Origins after months of leaks. The title looks absolutely stuing on Xbox One X and even features new mechanics like an eagle scout. Ubisoft also showcased some amazing gameplay footage which will blow your mind.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox One. The title will receive an update for Xbox One X.

Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic looks like a team-based shooter which is coming to Microsoft’s platforms soon.

State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2 got new gameplay footage and a Spring 2018 release window. Everyone though it was coming out in 2017 but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

The Darwin Project

The Darwin Project is a multiplayer battle arena like The Culling which is coming to Microsoft’s platforms soon.

Minecraft

Minecraft is consolidating all of the game’s versions meaning that everyone can play together. There’s also a Community Marketplace to buy user-created missions and much more. Apart from that, the game is getting a significant graphical upgrade due to Xbox One X. As expected, the title runs at native 4K on the console like all the other games shown at the briefing. Aside from one game which is still early in development, it appears that all the other titles run at native 4K on Xbox One X.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z

Microsoft revealed Dragon Ball Fighter Z, a gorgeous fighting game coming to their platforms soon. This is definitely going to go well with gamers who love the anime.

Black Desert Online

Black Desert Online is coming to Xbox One soon. The developer aounced the title for Xbox One many months ago but it looks absolutely phenomenal on Xbox One X.

The Last Night

Microsoft aounced an eerie-looking platformer called The Last Night. It looks like an intriguing and mysterious experience which gamers who prefer smaller experiences will enjoy.

Artful Escape

Artful Escape is a rhythmic platformer coming to our favorite console soon. It looks somewhat trippy and a lot of fun!

Code Vein

The vampire-based adventure Code Vein is coming in 2018. Many suspected that this title was a PlayStation 4 exclusive but that doesn’t appear to be the case at all.

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves got an extended gameplay look at the event. The game is coming out in early 2018. Unfortunately, the rumors about the title launching in 2017 weren’t true.

Tacoma

The long-awaited Tacoma is coming to Xbox One on August 2. We’ve been waiting for this title for months and it’s almost here!

Super Lucky’s Tale

Super Lucky’s Tale is a sequel to an Oculus Rift launch game. It’s surprising that it’s coming to Xbox One given its origins.

Cuphead

Cuphead is coming out on September 29. You can preorder the title on the Xbox Store right now.

Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 is coming out on November 7. Terry Crews has to be the best part of the game!

Ashen

Ashen got new gameplay footage at Microsoft’s event. The game is coming out on 2018 too.

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm

The rumored Life Is Strange prequel received its first trailer. It looks just as moving as the first game.

Games Montage

A lot of smaller titles were showcased during the briefing. They look like a lot of fun and all of them should support Xbox One X.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Middle-earth: Shadow of War got new gameplay footage from Xbox One X at the event. The game looks amazing on the console and truly show off its power.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Will of the Wisps was officially aounced by Microsoft after the earlier leak. It’s a beautiful game and it’ll look even better at 4K 60 FPS on Xbox One X.

Backward Compatibility

Original Xbox games are coming to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility Program. Users have been asking this for years and it’s finally happening! Along with the Xbox One X, this is probably the biggest surprise of the evening.

Anthem

BioWare’s Anthem got proper gameplay footage and it looks absolutely amazing. The title is a Destiny-like game which you experience with friends. There’s also going to be a lot of amazing loot.

Killing Floor 2

While touting that all games run at native 4K on Xbox One X, Microsoft revealed that the hit PlayStation 4 game, Killing Floor 2, is coming to Xbox One and Xbox One X. The title will run at native 4K on the console…which really isn’t a surprise at this point. Whenever you hear about Xbox One X now, you should just assume that the game runs at native 4K because all of them pretty much do.

Overall, Microsoft’s conference was great. While there weren’t any new franchises aounced, it’s great to see that a lot of these games will be available in 2017. Many doubted that the Xbox One X could handle native 4K but it can. Almost every game aounced for the console runs at native 4K. This is in stark contrast to Sony’s attempt to deceive customers with phrases like “Dynamic 4K” which just refers to games upscaled from 1440p. While there might not have been any earth-shattering surprises, it was still a solid conference which brought the hardware and the games. We just wish the Xbox One X wasn’t so expensive! Better start saving up now.
