Back in July last year, we reported about Object Theory, a software development agency focused on the creation of mixed reality applications for Microsoft HoloLens. Object Theory is founded by Michael Hoffman, a Principal Engineering Lead from the Microsoft HoloLens Studios team and Raven Zachary, a mobile entrepreneur who sold his mobile development company to Walmart.

Today, Object Theory aounced their product they have been working on. They have created a mixed reality collaboration service to help organizations design and build multi-user holographic experiences. This collaboration service allows Microsoft HoloLens users to share 3D experiences from remote locations, enabled by life size 3D avatars.

The Object Theory Mixed Reality Collaboration service includes of number of key features:

• Shared, remote experiences – Multiple users of the Microsoft HoloLens, regardless of location, can have a shared holographic experience with additional participants possible from a PC, tablet, or mobile phone

• Customized avatars – Each participant is represented in physical space by a full sized avatar that is uniquely differentiated, with support for gaze, gesture, and voice interaction

• Display of 3D models – Import and display 3D content at any size, from tabletop to full scale for shared review and discussion, with the ability to navigate to points of interest in full scale models

• Aotations – Ability to add text, drawing, and voice aotations that can be attached in 3D space

Object Theory will be contributing portions of the Mixed Reality Collaboration service to Microsoft’s HoloToolkit framework, an open source collection of helpful utility code for holographic development built upon the holographic Unity APIs.

Object Theory’s Mixed Reality Collaboration service is available begiing today as a component of a custom software development engagement. More information is available here.
